In a groundbreaking initiative, the Bankers’ Committee is poised to complete the comprehensive renovation and upgrading of the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos. This monumental project, launched in July 2021, aims to restore the theatre’s former glory and unlock opportunities for Nigeria’s vibrant creative sector.
During a media tour and briefing, the Committee showcased the transformed National Theatre complex, highlighting its commitment to reviving national pride. By upgrading the facilities to world-class standards, the Bankers’ Committee seeks to empower the youth in the creative industry, fostering job creation, income generation, and foreign exchange earnings.
The extensive renovation encompasses various spaces, including the 4,000-seater main bowl, banquet hall, exhibition halls, cinemas, VIP areas, and supporting infrastructure. State-of-the-art installations, such as Audio Video Lighting (AVL) and stage engineering systems, have been integrated to ensure an exceptional performance experience.
Mr. Segun Agbaje, Group CEO of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. (GTCo), emphasized the significance of providing a platform for Nigeria’s talented entertainers and artists to showcase their skills globally.
