The Southeast Zonal Chapter of the National Youth Alliance (NYA) vehemently condemns Governor Hope Uzodinma’s attempt to intimidate our Imo State Chairman, Comrade Chinonso Uba Nonsonkwa, and the entire NYA leadership and members in Imo State.
Governor Uzodinma’s catastrophic failure to protect lives and properties in Imo State since his controversial assumption of office in January 2020 is well-documented. His gross ineptitude has transformed the state into a killing field, where hoodlums and thugs reign supreme, causing unimaginable hardship and pain to the people.
The Governor’s inability to bring a single perpetrator to justice is a glaring indictment of his leadership. Indeed, Governor Uzodinma has proven himself unworthy of the esteemed positions of Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum. We will not stand idly by while he continues to fail the people of Imo State.
Contrary to Governor Uzodinma’s claims, the NYA is not a faceless organization, nor is our Imo State Chairman sponsored by any politician. We are purely the first youth Oriented political association, built on encouraging young Nigerians especially in the SouthEast to shorn violence and properly vent and drive their good intentions for the general good of the people through electoral processes. NYA is driven by young Nigerians of good conscience, character, and leadership, in the process of becoming a political party, with a well-structured organization from national to ward levels across the federation, including the entire five states of the Southeast.
Our leadership includes Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas (National Chairman), Hon. Prince Lawrence Toochukwu Ibe (Southeast Zonal Chairman), and Comrade Chinonso Uba Nonsonkwa (Imo State Chairman). We proudly boast of young and distinguished sons and daughters of Ndigbo serving in various capacities at National, Zonal, State, Local Government Area, Ward and Polling Unit levels, demonstrating our commitment to an egalitarian society and leadership development.
We welcome the call for security agencies to investigate the NYA and its leadership, as we are a law-abiding organization with nothing to hide or fear.
However, we reiterate the call for Governor Uzodinma’s immediate resignation and submission to security agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.
The failures of Governor Uzodinma and other failures across Igboland will no longer be tolerated.
