Tragedy has struck in Ondo State as Nelson Adepoyigi, the Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area, was killed by his abductors despite a ransom payment. Adepoyigi was kidnapped on Monday while parking his vehicle at his Ifon residence.
The kidnappers initially demanded N100 million, but after negotiations, the ransom was reduced to N5 million. Two community members volunteered to deliver the ransom, but the kidnappers later demanded an additional N30 million for the release of Adepoyigi and the two volunteers. Although the volunteers were released, Adepoyigi was reportedly killed.
Ose Local Government Chairman Kolapo Ojo confirmed the incident, highlighting the critical security situation in the area. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The tragic incident underscores the growing security concerns in the region, and authorities are urged to take decisive action to address the issue.
