Reports from Gaza indicate that Zakaria Sinwar, brother of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and current Hamas leader Muhammad Sinwar, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip. According to sources, Zakaria Sinwar and three of his children were residing in a tent that was targeted by the airstrike.

As a lecturer at the Islamic University in Gaza, Zakaria Sinwar’s role was reportedly academic, without direct involvement in Hamas’s military operations. However, his familial ties to senior Hamas figures are notable.

The incident comes amid escalating Israeli military operations in Gaza, aimed at dismantling Hamas’s leadership and infrastructure. There are also unconfirmed reports of a senior Hamas commander, Muhammad Sinwar, being found dead in a tunnel in Khan Yunis.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz reportedly believes Muhammad Sinwar was eliminated in an Israeli strike, although this has not been officially confirmed. Israel’s military continues to focus on defeating Hamas, targeting key commanders and tunnel networks.
