Setting the Record Straight: A Rebuttal to Baseless Allegations Against the Deputy Governor of Abia State
We, the Okon-Aku Development Union, have been compelled to respond to the recent spate of baseless allegations made against the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu by a careless and misguided son of our community who is carrying out a well calculated campaign of acrimony against the entire community and the deputy, particularly.
As a respected and responsible community organization, we cannot sit idly by while our revered leader is subjected to malicious and unfounded attacks over community matters.
Background of the hate campaign
Let it be made clear that Igwe Akuma as an errant son of Okon-Aku is playing out a vendetta script of the embattled Ex President General of Okon-Aku Development Union, Nmecha Umeh who is facing criminal charges for vandalizing government property under his watch. The deputy governor went into his black books for allowing the law to take its cause as he is facing criminal charges and possible prison terms. Another burning issue in the community that is emboldening Igwe Akuma is the decision of the Abia Deputy to follow the popular demand of Okon-Aku people in their choice of Ezie Ogo and Nnaka as against the wishes or sponsors of Igwe Akuma. Despite the fact that peace and progress has returned to the community, these co travelers are not having it.
The Truth About the Election Day Incident
We have been made aware of allegations suggesting that the Deputy Governor orchestrated an armed invasion of a private residence on election day. We categorically deny these claims. Our investigations reveal that the incident in question was, in fact, a lawful arrest of individuals suspected of electoral malfeasance in favour of Akuma who couldn’t have his way. The candidate’s relatives were detained for questioning and released on bail, following standard procedure. Let me also state categorically that the candidate in question was just an infinitesimal part of the election and is only seeking unreasonable attention with the name of the Deputy Governor.
Deputy Governor’s Leadership Brought Peace to Okon-Aku
We are proud to acknowledge the Deputy Governor’s instrumental role in bringing peace to our beloved community of Okon-Aku. Through his wise and pragmatic approach to leadership, Engr. The Deputy Governor’s efforts have brought serenity and peace to Okon-Aku after endless communal clashes. We owe him our gratitude and respect for this remarkable achievement. The only pockets of opposition is coming from few unscrupulous elements who had fed fat from the bleeding community that wished the status quo to remain.
Arrest of Errant Okon-Aku Boys
We have also been made aware of allegations surrounding the arrest of two individuals, Ebi Kalu Ebi and Obinna Denis, who were accused of insulting community leaders, including the Nnaka IV of Okon-Aku, the Ezie Ogoo Okon-Aku, and the Deputy Governor, through their social media platform. We confirm that the arrests were made at the instance of Okon-Aku leadership, not the Deputy Governor. Furthermore, our investigations reveal that the Deputy Governor, in his characteristic spirit of compassion and forgiveness, intervened to secure the release of the arrested individuals and even offered them guidance and support to reform their ways.
Facts Contradict Allegations
In light of these facts, we urge Akuma and his sponsors to focus on real community issues, not baseless allegations and smear tactics. It is our hope that this rebuttal will set the record straight and put an end to the malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of our esteemed Deputy Governor.
Displaying bleeding nose to curry pity is criminal because the cause of your wound is as a result of the crisis you created against Ndi Owom youths who confronted you with the fight you started. What does it have to do with the deputy governor of Abia State? Why are you washing your dirty linen in the public?
Conclusion
We, the Okon-Aku Development Union, stand firmly behind the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and commend him for his tireless efforts in promoting peace, development, and progress in our community. We will not hesitate to expose and condemn any further attempts to malign his character or distort the truth.
