In light of the recent poisoning threat made by a Nigerian woman in Canada, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission’s (NiDCOM) boss, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has been called upon to probe an old video of Asari Dokubo, a former Niger-Delta freedom activist, making threats against Igbo people.
The video, which resurfaced on social media, shows Dokubo calling for the killing of Igbos and displaying his collection of arms. He also made derogatory comments about Igbo people, saying they are “worse than the devil” and should be “hunted down and killed.”
This comes after NiDCOM petitioned the Canadian Mayor over the poisoning threat made by the Canada-based Nigerian woman. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has vowed to deal with the case and other related ones, stating that it is within her job schedule to handle such cases in the diaspora.
The challenge to investigate Dokubo’s past threats has sparked a call for accountability and action against hate speech and violence against all tribes as every Nigerians’ life matters. No one tribe’s life should be taken as more precious that others as that will amount to ethic bigotry.
