Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has fired back at Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling him a “frustrated politician” over his threat to destabilize states governed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors ¹. Wike’s threat was in response to the governors’ solidarity with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Mohammed’s remarks came while hosting members of the PDP National Working Committee in Bauchi. He emphasized that intraparty disagreements should not be misinterpreted as personal attacks. “When we argue, it’s never personal… We are united; this is not a splinter group,” Mohammed clarified.
The governor confidently asserted that Bauchi is resilient enough to handle any challenges, downplaying Wike’s threat. “Bauchi has enough water to put out any fire,” he said. Mohammed also reaffirmed his personal relationship with Wike, describing him as a “frustrated friend”.
Mohammed stressed the importance of party unity to prevent the PDP’s collapse, acknowledging the party’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s development. “We must unite to move forward,” he urged.
The National Legal Advisor of the PDP, Kamaldeen Ajibade Adeyemi, SAN, echoed Mohammed’s sentiments, assuring the governor of the National Working Committee’s support. “We will always be ready to implement the steps taken by the Governors’ Forum,” Adeyemi said.
