Twelve towns in Zamfara State are purportedly subject to an N60 million charge levied by bandits operating in the country’s northeast.
Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist from northwest Nigeria, revealed this in a post on X.
Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya, and Kabusu are among the Zamfara communities mentioned by Bakatsine.
The impacted populations were accused of supporting military raids, he wrote.
He claims that if locals do not pay the bandits’ charge, they will be attacked.
