The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, branded retired General Yakubu Gowon, former head of state of the military, a "genocidist" on Sunday. Emma Powerful, a spokesman for IPOB, charged Gowon with spearheading the second-bloodiest genocide against Igbos after the Holocaust in Israel. Strong was responding to Gowon's most recent remarks regarding the Biafra civil war. The former Military Head of State revealed, following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, that he was accused of being too slow to pursue the Biafra civil war. Gov. Mba was compelled to blackmail Supreme Court – IPOB.

On Friday, IPOB claimed that “Aso Rock” pressured Governor Peter Mba to blackmail the Supreme Court before Nnamdi Kanu's December 15 judgement. IPOB cited Mba's claim that the group was prohibited. Mba mentioned it to State House Correspondents after visiting President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
